The Newsboy Caps are all sewn from material harvested from out-of-style clothing items such as skirts, pants, shirts, etc...and I look for the best quality materials, like 100% virgin wool, cashmere, alpaca or wool-blend polyester and poly-cotton for easy care.

In my endeavours to re-use and re-purpose clothing fabrics, I decided to re-make outdated clothing into updated hats.

All Newsboy Caps are fully lined with the original lining of the skirts (or from other skirts/dresses if a lining is absent) and for flair, I even add any buttons, belt-loops, and/or belts from the skirt back onto the hats. The original zippers from all the skirts are adding up and I will find a use for them soon, too!

HISTORY OF FABRIC

This Newsboy Cap was once a remnant piece of gorgeous red bouclé, presumably left over from someone's project.

NOTE: There is a metallic red thread shot through the fabric and is particularly stunning in the evening when the light catches it.

The awesome lining was once a shirt and the fabric was still in excellent condition. The buckle was added for an extra piece of flair (and to break-up the sea of red) and it came from the kilt I used to make the Susan Casquette Cap!

HOW TO MEASURE

Not sure how to measure the cap size? For best results, use a fabric tape measure and place the tape around the head, making the tape level around back of head and above the ears and bring one end of the tape over the eyebrows and where the metal end meets the tape measure, you'll get the cap size. If you want the hat snug, ensure the tape measure is snug, too. If you would rather have a bit of room, give the tape measure a bit of slack.
