Vintage quarter moon Van Briggle Pottery, complete with ink two line potter's mark and batch number 41 on base. There are some ink numbers "99" whatever that means with the Van Briggle printed logo and what appears to be abbreviation for Colorado Springs. I assume this was a production piece and not an original, as per the signature. I've seen plenty of these online ranging in price up to $106. Of course I don't know when it was from, what the value is or what era it was made. I looked on the van briggle website and the glaze could be ming blue from 1920 or the 1940-1960 era if this design was still being made. Unless you are a collector and can tell by the signature you got me!

The glaze is not shiny at all but dull and in variated blues, very pretty a muted color.... It is in good solid shape. No chips or cracks but was in use and has some scrapes on the edges.

I'm not a pottery expert but this is NOT mint. It's got some stains inside where the dirt was. Maybe water, maybe dirt, and I did not try cleaning. All of this is being described to tell you imperfections but if you look at the full views from two feet away the pottery displays wonderfully and all of this is for the discriminating collector.

There are marks, some as shown in the zoom photo #5 which appear to be scrapes as if you took a dime and scraped up something, I think there is a way to rub SOME of these out with some mild cleanser but I am not an expert so I'll leave this up to you. Some of the marks are shown as I zoomed my camera in so you could see, some are white and appear deeper and some are surface marks near the base which are not shown. I do think some are definitely scrapes and scratches, and these are mainly on the ends. There are more on all edges and a few here and there, and what appears to be some black marks which appears to be in the glaze itself or so it looks.

It's a good price to have a lovingly used piece in your home, and a solid example of vintage Van Briggle.

It is about 8" from side to side and 7.5" tall. Please look at all photos and know I'm offering it much less than the ones I've seen online. ZOOM PHOTOS.
