Incredible revolutionary war history book written for younger readers, with beautiful illustrations and engravings:

Camps and Firesides of the Revolution
selected and annotated by Albert Bushnell Hart
#2 in Source Readers in American History
1905 edition (4th printing), Macmillan. 1
Dark blue board board with gold figure of revolutionary war soldier embossed on cover.
7.5" X 5.75"

This book is such a treasure of atmospheric, vivid, engaging writing that it was recently republished in a modern edition. This is the original. It gathers together writings of the day (from 1700 to 1778) that describe all sorts of facets of the Revolutionary War period, from details about manners and behavior to dress and gear. There are accounts of battles, or journeys taken, of the wilderness. And there are tons of marvelous illustrations.

Good shape, with pretty tight binding. Is ex-libris, with remains of a library tag on the spine. Bookcloth has wear on the edges of boards and spine, and a bit of soiling. Pages are clean and not written on. A number (written in fountain pen), and a few faint scars on the endpapers where the library card was pulled off. The book has a nice, old-fashioned weight to it, as the paper is high quality and on the heavy side. This is a hard to find volume.
