Original Antique Steel Engraving Print

Artist: engraved by Aubert after a drawing by Granet
Technique: Steel Engraving
Published by: Audot
Date: mid-1800s
Size: 10-1/2 x 7 inches (26.7 x 17.8 cm)
Condition: fair; small tears and foxing are limited to edges and would all be hidden by a mat

This moody original engraving of the Catacombs of the church of Saints Cosma (in the engraving spelled old-style "Cosimo") and Damiano (Damian) makes me want to figure out whether there really are catacombs at this church in the Roman Forum. Is this really an image of a catacomb? Or is it a slightly spooky series of porticoes? In any case, it would look splendidly evocative in a frame in someone's house.

This listing is for 1 Original Print (not a copy or reproduction). No frame or mat is included. This will be mailed between cardboard (or shipped in an sturdy mailer) for protection during shipping.
