The Ceramics Process:
(Discover more stages of ceramics making in our shop)
Bisque Firing:
Once a clay piece reaches the greenware stage, it undergoes the first firing, reaching approximately 1800 degrees F (980 degrees C). This crucial step hardens the ware, making it more manageable during the subsequent glazing process. While maintaining porosity, essential for liquid absorption, bisque firing prepares the piece for the glaze. The kiln is loaded with dry greenware, programmed to gradually warm to prevent potential explosions. The temperature is then increased until reaching the target, followed by a slow cooling process. The kiln is finally opened, revealing the bisque ware—now ready for the enchanting glazing phase. Explore our shop to witness the fascinating journey of ceramics creation!
