This is a spectacular early arts & crafts aesthetic metal arts period 1912 piece of Heintz two-tone bronze patina with sterling overlay in a cigar cup but without its lid which serves well as a vase or antique desk pen holder. The patina ends with a copper finish but is actually a bronze metal.

In 1906 Otto Heintz left copper to start using bronze as a base material with sterling ornamentation, the patent granted in 1912. The stylized sterling workmanship is gorgeous of a bull dog under a tree with the date of 1912 and AP & PA signed on back.

Marked sterling on the dog's leg as well as the patent number on the bottom of 2539.

Measures 3 1/2 inches diameter by 5 inches tall.

In excellent antique condition as photos depict with its original old 'two-tone' patina, the original factory finish of dark oxidation around the overlay with a lighter ground color through the rest of the body, a rare find. You will find only normal expected signs of use but nothing that takes away from its antique charm.

A beautiful piece for a collection~!
