Striking vintage 1960s black and white colorblock Mod maxi dress by one of my favorite of the minor designers from this period, Alison Ayres.

I still know nothing about Alison Ayres Originals, except that every one I've seen or had in has *unsually* great design. Not your average 1960s and 1970s dresses. In fact, many of the designs remind me of one of my very favorite vintage designers, Luis Estevez, including this one!

From the low face (and neck) highlighting scoop neckline, to the graceful colorblock wide A-line skirt, to the graphic use of black and white - very Estevez. But, without the price tag :)

Long sleeves, back bodice, with wide set-in waistband, wide black band down the center of the front, and another wide band of black all the way around the hem.

Graphic, bold, very Mod, and so easy to dress up or down for day or evening with accessories. I see it styled with a pair of bold black and white Lucite 60s earrings, and a wide bangle bracelet (or three).
