Marjorie Flack's books about a Scottish Terrier named Angus are some of the most beloved vintage children's books of the 20th century. Flack actually owned a Scottish Terrier named Angus, and her familiarity with the breed shows throughout this book, although her depiction of the cat who torments poor Angus are just as lifelike.

This hardcover book, published by Doubleday, is unpaginated but is around 30 pages long. It has the original 1931 copyright, although it is not a stated first edition. However, based upon the $1.50 price that is shown inside the dust jacket, I believe that it is a later run of the first edition printing, probably from the mid to late 1930's. It still has the original dust jacket; it is 9 x7 inches and 32 pages long.

It's a real treat to find an old copy of this book in such nice condition, although to look at a Marjorie Flack book is always a treat!

The dust cover shows bending and some closed tears around the edges and a portion of the dust cover around the upper front spine is missing. There is a green mark in the white area near Angus. The hardcover book shows rubbing at the front part of the upper spine and a small amount of bumping at the tips. On the back side there is a small crack in the paper covering around the top of the spine. The color illustration on the cover is identical to the dust cover and is clean and brilliant.

The interior has a gift inscription inside the front cover. There are no other inscriptions or markings and no rips, tears or flaws in the interior of the book. The pages are all securely attached and the binding is in excellent condition.
