This is a sample of my Red Fern Mug pair, 20 oz. The fern placement on each mug is very similar. I work with real ferns and each one is unique in size and shape.
These mugs are 4 5/8 in. to 4 3/4 in. tall. They are a 3 1/4 in. diam. and larger at the top outside rim. The bottom near the belly of the mug is 3 3/4 in in diam. or larger.

Heat and re-heat these mugs in the microwave, the RIM NEVER GETS HOT!

With room for over 2 1/2 cups of hot or cold beverage, there is still room for plenty of sloshing around, They are suprisingly LIGHT WEIGHT!
You can be sure that this group of 20 oz. mugs has extra room for that unexpected additional milk sugar or whipped cream for that perfect cup of hot chocolate, coffee, or tea.

This reddish brown mug is a very smooth and shiny glaze on the outside. The ferns near my studio have found their way onto the surface of this mug series. The ferns are used during the glazing process, delicately attached to each mug. Each one is unique and a little different than the next. The inside color is slightly lighter and sometimes darker than the outside reddish brown color. The the ferns I use turn a warm mint green color in early Autumn, and change to a golden tan (the color I have used) progressing to a rusty red brown just before wintering. There are some varieties that stay green all winter and can be found under the snow.

There is plenty of surface detail to enjoy while using these mugs. They are large and sturdy enough for any one with large hands. and perfect to take out to the deck or the garage for sipping a hot or cold beverage while planning projects or just relaxing and reading the paper.

My stoneware mugs are large but light weight. They are made on a potters wheel and have hand pulled handles. I fire at cone 6 stoneware temperature. Due to the fine craftsmanship and design, they can take a lot of abuse. They are not easy to tip. Take them with your hot or cold beverage to the garden, garage office...wherever the day takes you.

They are microwave and dishwasher safe, and made with food safe glazes. I purchase my materials in Sheffield, Massachusetts where my clay is mined and processed just an hour from my studio in the Berkshire mountains of Northwest Ct.
