About the Artist: Award winning Louisiana artist Melanie Douthit has been creating art seriously since the early 1980's. Her work can be seen in the Ouachita River Art Gallery in West Monroe, Louisiana and The Great Artists' Collective Gallery on Royal Street in the French Quarter in New Orleans, Louisiana. Primarily acrylic and mixed media, Melanie's works feature whimsical New Orleans scenes and mixed media folk art narratives. Her art pieces are included in private collections throughout the United States as well as in Puerto Rico, Canada, Greece and Europe. She has offered art online since January 2001. She has won awards in many regional artist shows and competitions, and is a previous member of the Mississippi Watercolor Society and Hoover Watercolor Society.
