This listing is for our custom herb growing kit and includes:

-(1) one gallon fabric aeration pot with handles
-(1) Clear top gift tin
-(3) Seed starting peat pots
-(6) Wood plant labels
-(3) Heirloom Herb Seed Packets
-Gift tag and natural shredded paper

This is a very simple, fun, and utilitarian kit for starting an herb garden. Great gift for the gardener in your life - that might be you. Seeds can be started in the peat pots and transplanted out to the garden or start seeds in a good quality potting soil (not included) right in the fabric aeration pot.

Seeds are hand packaged by me in paper resealable envelopes with whimsical outhouse design or our new watering can design. Seeds include: Cilantro, Organic Genovese Basil, and Organic Giant of Italy Parsley. Depending on what's in stock, seeds may be substituted for other heirloom seeds in our shop.

The fabric aeration pot can be used indoors or out and is durable enough to use multiple times. It is constructed of polypropylene and allows for a healthy root system by air pruning the roots as the plant grows. In other words, the roots are naturally pruned by dry air causing them to die back. This causes secondary roots to grow, creating a stronger root system.

A NOTE ABOUT SPHAGNUM PEAT MOSS - Our peat pots originate from Canadian sphagnum peat moss. There are environmental concerns regarding harvesting of peat from sensitive peatlands. Our understanding is that the peat harvested from Canada is for horticultural uses which constitutes a very small percentage of world wide harvested peat. The larger, unsustainable percentage of harvested peat is used for fuel. Of course, this does not negate our concern for this natural resource. Our philosophy is to inspire and engage individuals in the act of growing food. Often times, taking the first step is more important than inducing paralysis by analysis. We continue to promote the use of locally sourced, biological resources FIRST when creating food gardens and a more abundant life.
