******RESERVED FOR ANGIE**************

This lovely pair of vintage frames have a great shabby chic look. The oval frames are not exactly a matched pair but were purchased as such. The only difference between them is the raised design on the edge. It looks like these were originally stained walnut but sometime over the years someone painted them ivory with gold accents. The overall size of the frames is 12 in. by 14 in. The picture opening on the back measures 8 x 10 in. with the oval on the front measuring approximately 7 1/4 in. by 9 1/8 in. The frames do include the glass.

The frames have a shabby chic or cottage look and have nicks and chipped paint scattered here and there. There are also a few small tight stress/age cracks around the oval opening that would not affect its use. I'm unsure if the frames are carved wood or have the design applied in a material such as gesso, plaster etc. I'm leaning towards them being carved but not 100% sure. The paint may be milk paint and it seems to be quite a thick coating with a slight sheen. On one of the backs is a stenciled 41 1/2 and at the bottom in pencil it is very faintly written what looks like: For Mr. Herbert Thor----. (I can't read the last name) The backing and pictures were probably replaced at one time. The picture backing is what looks like masonite. The pictures are lovely and behind one of the backings was a loose strip of paper reading: Nicolas de Largilliere - Madame de Gueidan en Flore. This would be a print from the work of a famous Paris artist from the 1600's-1700's.
