Do you use authentic Japanese lacquer?

No, we do not. One of the primary compounds of traditional, authentic Japanese lacquer (urushi) is urushiol, which is the oil from the urushi tree. It is also the compound that makes poison ivy/oak so toxic to humans! Instead, we use a proprietary, allergen-friendly resin formula.

Wipe clean with a soft, dry cloth. We recommend a microfiber cloth. Keep out of reach of children and pets.

Are these really unique?

Yes. Each piece has been lovingly restored from its broken state. They cannot be replicated, even if we tried. This is what makes true kintsugi so special. Each piece is the result of a slow, intensive process of mending and healing the item, transforming it into something new.

Can you provide expedited shipping options?

In most cases, yes. However please contact us first before purchasing to confirm that expedited shipping is available and what the additional cost will be.

Can you fix my ceramics?

Possibly. We take on custom commissions and repairs - please inquire for more information. For a fair assessment, please be prepared to send a photograph(s) of the item that needs repair.

Shipping for Major Holidays - I.E. Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, etc.

If you're purchasing an item for a special occasion/major holiday, it is recommended that you place your order at least 10 working days in advance. USPS is experiencing unprecedented demand due to COVID-19/weather/etc. Consequently, some shipments may take a little longer to arrive. Kintsugi ("golden joinery" ) is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery, embracing its flaws and highlighting its imperfections. Using golden resin, Kintsugi artists highlight the object's cracks and imperfections and honor its history; transforming a once-broken, useless piece into a priceless piece of art. It is also known as Kintsukuroi ("golden repair").

The Kintsugi philosophy is similar to wabi sabi, a Zen state of mind that accepts that the world is full of imperfection. Kintsugi is the process of respecting, embracing and celebrating an object's history, despite its modern-world "flaws."

This unique, one-of-a-kind piece has been created using the Kintsugi crack method. This art piece will never be replicated. Please note that THIS STONEWARE VASE CANNOT HOLD WATER.

*Due to the golden resin and gold finish, all Kintsugi items are for decoration only.*

Kintsugi objects should NOT be used for food, or in a dishwasher or microwave. It is recommended that vases are used for faux floral arrangements only. Our studio does NOT use Japanese urushi resin due to the potential of allergic reactions.
