Materials

bronze, German silver, rustic copper

**PLEASE NOTE: This item is MADE TO ORDER. Current production times are listed below (Made just for you in---) and in the announcement section of my shop's homepage. Rush service (items made and ready to ship in 5-7 bus. days) is available as an upgrade during checkout.

**Artisan crafted. Original design made in the USA.**

Skinny, lightly faceted arm band in your choice of brushed satin bronze, brushed satin German silver or rustic copper. Hand brazed and forged. This is a full circle arm band and measures approx. 2.5mm wide. I can make an adjustable open-ended version if you prefer, just let me know at the time of purchase. Bronze is a gold color with a hint of blush, similar to 10k or 14k gold. German silver is a strong, silver tone alloy of nickel, copper and zinc. (FYI: This alloy contains 18% nickel.) Rustic copper has been heat treated to achieve a darker organic patina and lightly polished.

**While many people can wear bronze or copper jewelry without issue, certain skin types may experience discoloration. For more info please read the FAQs in my shop policies.

TO DETERMINE YOUR SIZE: With your arm at your side, wrap a measuring tape around your arm where you would like to wear the band (or the widest part of your elbow if it is larger, as you will need to slip the band past your elbow to your upper arm) and get the length. If you don't have a measuring tape handy, you can use a string or ribbon to wrap around your arm, mark the length and measure using a standard ruler.

**Most customers that end up needing their bands resized have ordered too large. There is a substantial difference between a 9" band and a 10" band. You will be the best judge of size, just keep this in mind when measuring. For reference, the model is 5' 5" approx. 115 lbs. and is wearing a 9.5" band. In the event that you order the wrong size, resizing (when possible) is available for a $5.00 fee per item plus shipping costs.

To maintain your jewelry's original luster, I highly recommend Sunshine polishing cloths. They're fantastic at removing tarnish and adding a fresh shine to brass, sterling, copper, nickel, gold and more. Ships FREE when added to any jewelry purchase! https://www.etsy.com/listing/212011658/jewelry-polishing-cloth-sunshine?ref=shop_home_active_1

FAQs:

*PLEASE NOTE that I cannot accept returns of made to order jewelry based on incompatibility so choose your metals thoughtfully.

ABOUT BRASS, BRONZE & COPPER:

Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc with a bright yellowish tone. Bronze is an alloy of copper and tin with a lightly blushed golden tone, similar to 10k or 14k gold. Bronze is a stronger metal than brass and yields more durable pieces overall. Both brass and bronze are great, less expensive alternatives to gold provided your body chemistry is compatible and you don't mind a little maintenance (polishing touch-ups). Those with more acidic leaning skin types or metal sensitivities may experience skin discoloration or accelerated tarnishing due to the copper content. Skin discoloration, if an issue, can be resolved by applying a layer of clear nail polish to just the part of the jewelry that contacts the skin (i.e. the inside of a ring band). I wear my brass/bronze rings 24/7 while working, showering, sleeping, etc. without issue for the most part. All they've needed is a quick polish from time to time. On occasion I have had some minor discoloration when I've either worn a wide band or overly tight ring (doesn't allow skin to breathe as well) or in humid/moist conditions.

Copper is a pure metal, not an alloy, with a warm pinkish tone in its natural state and a deep, rustic reddish tone with heat treatment. Inherently a soft metal, I forge all of my copper jewelry which gives it extra strength. I also oxidize copper pieces using heat patina which naturally adds a little protection against the skin.

I love that raw metals like these can have an heirloom quality lifespan with proper care and always be refreshed with a polishing cloth or allowed to age/oxidize naturally.

ABOUT 10K & 14K GOLD:

While visually so similar that it is hard to tell them apart, 10k and 14k yellow gold have some differences that may make you wish to choose one over the other. 10k gold contains approx. 41% pure gold and 14k gold contains approx. 58% pure gold. Both are alloyed with other metals, primarily silver, some copper and small amounts of other metals. Since pure gold is a very soft metal, the more it is alloyed with other metals the stronger it becomes; therefore, jewelry made from 10k is a bit more durable than 14k. People with metal allergies tend to do better with 14k as it has less added metals and more gold content. Both 10k and 14k retain their shine well and, like most metals, benefit from occasional polishing.

JEWELRY CARE:

Although non-precious metals are most susceptible, almost all metals can be prone to tarnishing without proper care, even gold. For most people, wearing jewelry regularly is one of the best ways to reduce tarnishing. To minimize tarnishing when not in use, store clean, dry jewelry out of the open air (i.e. in a ziplock bag or other sealed container). Occasional polishing with a jewelry polishing cloth is recommended for all metal jewelry (precious and non-precious). Avoid wearing your jewelry in chlorinated or salt water, both are corrosive to metals. If exposed to either, wash your piece as soon as possible in fresh water, rinse well and dry off.

Silver soldered glass jewelry can be refreshed using a Sunshine polishing cloth (available in my shop). Gunmetal soldered glass jewelry has been sealed with an acrylic coat to preserve the patina and does not need polishing. Glass jewelry with encased elements (i.e. moss, lichen, feathers, etc.) is not waterproof and should not be worn while bathing or swimming. It's a good idea to store glass jewelry separately from other jewelry as it can be easily scratched.

RING RESIZING:

If you don't know your ring size, I strongly recommend being professionally sized at a local jewelry store (it's quick and free and will yield the most accurate results). If needed, resizing for rings is available in most cases for a fee (see specific listings for details) plus shipping costs. Resized rings are typically ready to reship approx. 1 week after I have received the return. *Please contact me via Etsy prior to returning any jewelry for resizing.

CUSTOM ENGRAVING:

I'm sorry, my shop does not offer engraving services at this time. However, many jewelry stores do so that's likely something you could have done locally if interested.
