Currier & Ives Printmakers to the American People
by Harry T. Peters
Doubleday, Doran & Co., Inc.
Copyright 1942
230 pages
9" X 12" X 1.25"

This historical piece of Americana gives the history of Currier and Ives - both personal and business, the artists that they worked with, and copies of their lithograph printing plates #5 - #192. Some of the plates are in color but the majority are black and white. Each lithograph illustrates a piece of American life from the mid-nineteenth century. Many of the prints are suitable for framing or would could be used in scrapbooking.

This book is in good condition. The stitched binding is tight and all the pages secure. We didn’t find any marking or writing on the pages except on the flyleaf where the previous owner wrote their name and address. The cover shows signs of shelf wear and the title on the spine is worn but still read-able. Title print that is pasted on the cover is clear but shows some bubbling and cracking. The paper shows the typical yellowing of a book this age along with some minor stains from page turning.
