Wow! This is a nice antique and perhaps out of place here on Etsy, but I thought I would give it a try. This box is could be mid-1800's and maybe even a little earlier judging by the cotter pin hinges and one old screw which is exposed. The box is handmade and has been hollowed out from a solid piece of hardwood, perhaps maple. The lid is also hardwood and has striations like tiger maple. There is an original old piece of kraft paper covering the inside back. The round box had to be cut flat to attach to the hanger board. It has the original finish and patina. I found It McHenry, Illinois in an old summer cottage along the Fox River about 15 years ago.

Dimensions: 10 1/2" tall, approximately 5" in diameter.

It is in wonderful condition, is beautifully designed with excellent craftsmanship and would look outstanding in your kitchen.
