Neck Ties for Boys Knitting Machine Made and Hand Finished

made in the 1980's
Listing is for ONE TIE for sale, general information written here is for all ties.

Tie is 44 inches long
Front 1.75 inches wide
Back 1.25-1.25 inches wide

Length is suitable for boys, the RUST colored tie is the shortest length at 44 inches. A common length is 42 inches. Typical length when worn is 12 inches knotted at neck.

Colors are vibrant, ties are in great condition. Choose the size that is appropriate for the wearer of the tie. The ties were knitted in a classic style, modeling them after vintage ties from the 1950's, when narrow knitted ties were popular. I knitted these ties on the Empisal/Knitmaster knitting machine that recently sold. The ties are cotton. The small square pattern on blue and red ties is of a synthetic yarn. The ties are unlined and lightweight, they've been hand sewn and hand finished. Textured pattern on solid colored ties and small square pattern are found in the patterns that come with the machine.

Current Trend in Tie length is about 54.5-57 inches inches long, I measured modern ties and one vintage. The taller a person is the longer the tie when worn, that would seem obvious though style has changed through the years, so it has become a preference to how one likes to wear their ties. I photographed all ties together and need to explain that this listing is for one (1) tie for sale.

I am including a sizing guide I found online for fitting ties on boys, use it as a quick reference.

SIZING FOR BOYS TIES: Measure the child from the top of the collar to the middle of the belt line to determine size of clip on tie needed. Prep ties are regular tie-yourself ties and usually make into a 14" tie but are somewhat adjustable in length depending on how you tie the tie.
* 2.5" wide - The smallest boy's necktie is just two and 1/2 inches across by 42 inches in overall length, a great size for little fellows 45-49" tall.
* 2.75" wide - The next size measures two and 3/4 inches by 46 inches in overall length. It should be about right for youngsters 50-54" tall.
* 3" wide - Our largest kid's neck tie is three inches across by 50 inches in overall length, and will be a good size for boys 55-60" tall.

Shipping costs are not included in the price of the tie. Please send me your city and zip code for a price quote.
