A sterling ring featuring a 12mm x 10mm oval, faceted, citrine. Flanking either side of the stone I've carved bees surrounded by flowers and branches and applied a light antique patina to highlight the detail. I've also carved a small beehive on the inside of the ring- I like secrets in jewelry.

This ring is currently a size 7.5, but can be sized from 5-10 easily. Please let me know your preference in the note to seller when checking out.

This citrine is just beautiful: a sparkling, lemon yellow. I look upon it and am instantly uplifted.

I had been thinking of carving a bee piece for a very long time, and as I started research for this ring, I realized what extraordinary creatures they are. In the United States alone, it is estimated that honeybees accomplish 1/4 of the pollination needed for all fruit produced for human consumption. That works out to an estimated $10 billion worth of (free) labor each year. We should all give thanks to the bees.

Bee symbolism and mythology is found in many cultures worldwide. They represent everything from inspiration, hope, communication, purpose, industry to healing and the Goddess. They were considered the sacred insect that bridged the natural world to the underworld in Ancient Near East and Aegean cultures, and the priestess of Apollo at the Delphic Temple was called the "Delphic Bee". Bees are also a wonderful symbol of doing the impossible, because technically, bumble bees shouldn't be able to fly.

This ring is also available in sterling with green amethyst: http://www.etsy.com/listing/87048598/the-bee-ring-green-amethyst-and-sterling
