Unbelievable, pristine 1966 Japan mod quail shape casserole baking dish. Earthy coloring, unglazed outer, chocolate brown inner glaze. Environmental Ceramics.

This beauty still has its paper tag stuck to the bottom; it has most certainly never been used in nearly fifty years. It is a nice round shape, measuring approximately 8 inches long and wide, and perhaps 5 and 1/2 inches in height. The only sign that it has ever been touched can be seen in photograph #4, along one "wing" there is a subtle darkish blue feathery mark as if painted paper or an implement grazed it and left a ghost. It is otherwise mind-bogglingly pristine.

Many of these casseroles (the quails from Environmental Ceramics) are with bright, fun-but-garish glossy glaze. This one has a natural, homey look to its matte outer surface (with tiny natural speckling), and deep chocolate brown inside. It is more rustic farmhouse than kooky mod, though it does have the same sweet little slightly-raised graphics in the shapes of mod flowers, etc. It is understated but instantly recognizable, and very, very endearing.

This will be very well packaged with plenty of padding to reach you in its current, impeccable state.
