The Eyes of the World, by Harold Bell Wright, was a bestseller in its day and was even made into a silent movie in 1914. Wright was actually one of the top selling authors of the era, but is now largely forgotten, as his work was considered an entertaining read at the time, but now it's pretty dated and borders on being amusing.

This copy is from 1914 and is consistent with other first edition copies. What makes this book interesting is the four color plate illustrations by F. Graham Cootes. They are very typical of the more traditional illustration style of the era (and may even a bit behind the times for 1914,) but they are nontheless well-done and attractive.

The book is 464 pages long and is 8 x 9 inches in size. It was published by the Book Supply Company of Chicago.

The cloth cover has a lighter spot on the cover and a lighter ring on the back. There is wear and rubbing to the edges and the spine, and the spine is a bit cocked.

The interior is largely clean and unmarked. There is a light ownership inscription and some minor spotting here and there. The pages show some age-related yellowing, but it is not significant in nature. The color plate illustrations are bright and clean.
