Description

A gentle invitation to just sit and enjoy your tea. A moment of mindfulness in a tiny book that looks like a tea bag. For tea lovers who appreciate the meditative experience in a cup of tea. A unique Easter basket stuffer for tea lovers.

GIFT SET OPTION
If you select "Gift set," you will also get an enclosure card with glassine envelope and two matching sticker seals (a teapot and the Chinese character for tea), in a slightly larger glassine bag, plus a small mailable envelope! (4-bar size) This is shown in the last two photos, including envelope color choices. If you're having me send it directly to the recipient, I can write your note on the card and their name on the envelope and put it together for you.

ABOUT THE BOOK
This little book relates the story of a Buddhist master in China, whose advice to students who wanted to discuss the mysteries of enlightenment was "go have some tea."

• Hand-stitched with a three-hole pamphlet stitch using tea-dyed waxed linen thread, with a string and tab like a tea bag.
• Measures approx. 1 3/4" high by 2 1/4" wide
• Includes a bibliography (Yes! This tiny book is well-rearched and documented.)
• Comes in its own sleeve, either a matching handmade one or an authentic tea packet (does not include tea, sorry!)

I tea-dyed the linen thread to coordinate with the cover, which is a scan of tea-stained paper and features a digital copy of my linocut relief print of a teapot.

CHOICES: SLEEVE COLOR AND DESIGN
It comes in a paper sleeve (like a tea packet), either a brown one designed and made by me, with your choice of label colors or none (see fourth photo); or an upcycled red tea packet, either a bright red one from Stash English breakfast tea (shown on the left, fifth photo), or a muted red one from Tazo Awake tea (Tazo no longer uses this design, but I used to save them because I really liked it, so I still have quite a few).

If you're getting more than one and you don't want them to be all the same, choose "assorted" and let me know in the note to seller what you want.

This would pair nicely with my new mini zine about listening to the night sounds, which will also fit in the glassine bag of the gift set offered here. You can find the night sounds zine, pictured in the last photo, here:
https://www.etsy.com/listing/545526696/night-sounds-a-mini-zine-about-listening

Both mini zines are $6 each. If you want to buy 5 or more of either or a combination of both, I'll give you a discount of $1 off each. Please contact me to set up a custom listing for this.

Shipping policies

I ship most items in one to three days, except Sundays and holidays. Custom items may take longer, especially if I'm waiting for replies to my messages. I can speed up my process if you need something in a hurry, so please ask if this is so. If you select Priority Mail (for US addresses), I will assume you are in a hurry and try to get your order out within a day.

I ship via first class mail for most things, and will use Priority Mail for US addresses when selected at checkout or when combined shipping charges cover the cost of Priority Mail. I'll refund excess shipping charges if the actual shipping and handling cost is less, which can sometimes happen when you buy several items (I do try to allow for that in the way that I set the charges).

If you live in Minneapolis/St. Paul and would like to arrange to pick up your order, please use coupon code LOCALPICKUP to waive the shipping charge and I'll contact you to arrange a pick-up time. I can also refund shipping if you didn't use the code. I live in South Minneapolis's Longfellow neighborhood.

SHIPPING TO OUTSIDE THE US: I use first class international mail, which comes with tracking in some countries. I do expect buyers to take care of any local taxes and customs fees on their end, and I do not know what those might be.

FAQs

The text on cards and book plates can be changed; all book plate listings include a custom option for $8 extra. If you want custom printing on cards, please contact me to work out the details.

I welcome requests for custom made journals, too. Please don't hesitate to ask if interested. Allow about 2 weeks plus shipping time.

I do not do custom drawings or pet portraits, sorry! Neither can I alter an existing drawing.
I offer quantity discounts on cards (which are $4 per single card) through existing listings of 5 cards for $15 and 10 cards for $20. Since the 10-card deal is already marked down to half price, that is the same as wholesale and available to all customers. Some other items are available for wholesale (quantity discounts). Please ask if interested.
