Great gift for Him! Primitive engraving of deer hunters, river stone rock art, la Valltorta Ravine. Perfect to display in a man cave or on his desk (it makes a fascinating paperweight), table, window sill or shelf. Think about it... Another tie? A singing fish? Or this unique, fascinating stone art? Exactly! You'll score big with your husband, father, guy!

This permanently engraved, naturally weathered, smooth stone comes from the mysterious Wapona Kira Archaeological site. You can read more about the site and the origin of Brijoli stones in our listing for the original Brijoli design:

The Brijoli planted new stone art in the archaeological pits each night while the scientists slept, for the scientists to "discover" the next day. At first, the Brijoli only left stones decorated with their own traditional designs. Then, one night, the Brijoli found an archaeology book that one of the scientists had left about. They discovered pictures in the book of petroglyphs, cave paintings, and other rock art from around the world. From then on, the playful Brijoli left stones decorated with designs representative of the four corners of the Earth.

One interpretation of cave paintings is that they represent hunting magic, meant to increase the the success of a hunt. Whatever the reason for their creation, there are paintings at la Valltorta Ravine in Spain (often mis-attributed to the Lascaux Cave in France) that provide perhaps the earliest record of humans hunting with bow and arrow. The recreation of that hunting scene on this particular smooth, dark stone is described by the Brijola artist as a "tattoo." However, no paint, ink or pigment was used to create the image on this stone. Rather, the surface of the stone was bleached of color to produce a permanent, light colored image on the dark stone.

This dark stone was chosen for its color, smooth texture, shape and size. This particular stone is a comfortable size, sits nicely in the palm of your hand, and feels wonderful against your skin. Perfect to display in a man cave, on his desk (a fascinating paperweight), table, window sill or shelf. Keep a magnifying glass next to this stone so visitors can inspect the fine details!

Your stone has been packed in archaeologist's excelsior and "crated" at the original Wapona Kira Archaeological site. This original, unique "crate" appears to have been transshipped through Egypt, France, and Germany to help preserve the secrecy of the site's location, and it will be shipped to you from a location somewhere in the United States.

Ships Priority Mail within the US with a tracking number provided, allowing you to monitor the crate on the final leg of its journey to your door. If you prefer Parcel Post, convo before purchasing for revised shipping cost. First class is used for Canadian destinations.
