The chrysanthemum is a very traditional temari motif. This design is a variation on the traditional chrysanthemum by varying the lengths of the cool blue petals. The longest petals cross the equator line, so there is no need for the traditional center obi (as can be seen on the background temari in the third picture), creating a different, perhaps more contemporary look, enhanced by the black background and silver accents.

Circumference: 29.5 cm (11.625 inches)
Diameter: approximately 8.25 cm (3.25 inches)

Temari is a traditional Japanese craft that uses a ball form wrapped in very fine thread as a base for embroidered designs. This ball features a core made of the rice hulls and yarn.

Temari can be displayed individually on their own or on a small stand, such as a napkin ring. Alternatively, they can be used to make a nice display in a bowl with complementary temari or other decorative balls. Use your creativity, and find the way that makes you happiest!
