Sometimes, a girl needs a break from painting with teeny brushes. And that is where the face flower pot comes in. Originally done during my apprenticeship for something a little different, I had to come back to doing these. They're a bit of an homage to the North Carolina face jug tradtition, but done much more mellow. Wheel thrown, the face is applied later before drying. Measuring about 5" across at the top by 4.5" high, this guy is left unglazed entirely to prevent the dreaded root rot. For this reason, though, you can't leave him out for the winter if you're in a freezing zone for fear of cracking. Also, he does have a drainage hole in the bottom. He is just the right size for a 3" pot to fit in, so have fun with what you plant in this little guy. I'll leave his name up to you...
