These are gorgeous rich gold tone Aurora Borealis rhinestone earrings made by Elsa Schiaparelli in the early 1950s.

Elsa Schiaparelli was a greatly respected and admired designer who was known for sophisticated, often wildly eccentric pieces that garnered her a huge following. She collaborated with great artists such as Salvador Dalí, Cocteau and the great jewelry designer Jean Schlumberger.

These gold tone earrings are in the shape of serpentine cornucopia with fluid gestural lines that look amazing curving along the shape of the ear.

The gold tone metal is richly detailed with a very interesting and beautiful texture. The large (10mm) Aurora Borealis rhinestones are incredibly luminous, shiny and reflective. They are far more beautiful in person than we could capture in photographs. The rhinestones are glittery and change from pink to blue to purple. These earrings feature clip backs that are signed "Schiaparelli" in script.
