This rebozo or shawl was hand woven in Totonicapan, Guatemala. It measures 62" x 21" plus the fringe. This circa-1980 rebozo was hand woven on a back strap loom. The brown stripes are made from a hand spun brown cotton unique to the area. The pattern includes stripes done with very finely done ikat dye patterns. Several stripes have an ikat pattern with the words "hecho en totonicapan" woven into the design. It has fringe on both ends. This rebozo is in excellent condition except for a little bit of wear on one corner fringe which can be seen at the top right corner of the last picture.
