Taylor Smith & Taylor’s popular Lu-Ray Pastels was a contemporary with Homer Laughlin’s Fiesta Ware. Beautiful bright Fiesta Ware was a favorite of many American homes during the Art Deco period. Taylor Smith & Taylor introduced Lu-Ray Pastels during the Spring of 1938 for June weddings with the thought that new brides would love the soft stylish colors. The name was coined from company’s lead salesman who had recently visited the LuRay Caverns in Virginia.

This is a set of eight Lu-Ray Pastels original Windsor Blue glaze and the traditional Lu Ray Empire shape. The footed cups measure 2 ½ inches high and 3 ¾ inches in width. Even though the cups do not bear the Lu-Ray Back stamp, the Sugar and Creamer of the set has the original “T.S.&T. Lu-Ray Pastels U.S.A.” mark with “11 52 1” which indicates the cups were produced in November 1951.

The cups are in Great Vintage condition.
