These adorable, fun vintage screw back earrings feature scrimshawed Eskimos on, what I believe from research is, walrus ivory (pre-ban). (Scrimshaw is etching on ivory or bone with ink being rubbed into the scratch marks, and has been practiced for hundreds of years.) It is beautifully carved and has nice detail. It may be signed at the bottom by the artist; although I cannot make out the name, it looks like it may be Nunuk.

The gold screw backs are marked 1/20-12K G.F. The ivory is smooth and shiny, and has darker spots in various areas, as shown in the photos. On the edges, you can see translucent wavy lines super up close. They are a little more cream-yellow than pictured.

Marked: 1/20-12K G.F. The scribble below the scrimshaw drawing may be an artist's signature "Nunuk"?
Measurements: about 0.75" x 0.75" circle
Condition: Very Good.

**Please realize that the items in my shop are in used vintage condition, so expect some natural wear due to age.**
