Give Up Activism, by Paul Chatterton; 20 page staple-bound pamphlet. Originally published as a response to demonstrations held in Nottingham, this pamphlet explores the need to find common ground between those who see themselves as “activists” and the public. Reflecting on the politics of hope, silence and commonality through extended conversations with members of the public during a demonstration which shut down an oil refinery in Nottingham, the key element relates to the need to transcend the role of the activist, to literally give up activism. In essence, learning to walk with others helps us to counteract universalist solutions and instead assemble toolkits for developing contextualized and workable alternatives to life under capitalism. $3.00
