This teapot was thrown on the potters wheel and then extensively hand carved to closely resemble a tree trunk. The Fairy was hand sculpted using a porcelain clay and then carefully applied to the front of the piece so that she appears to be floating from the tree trunk. I added lovely hand sculpted leaves in shades of moss green. I especially love the lid on this piece! I carved and twisted it and then I glazed the entire piece in shades of soft brown and white with a touch of speckle to resemble a birch tree. The fairy has lovely hand applied ears and is glazed with a brush in underglazes in shades of umber and and soft red. I've added an opalescent overglaze to create a little mystery! The piece is fired to 2232 in an electric kiln and only food safe glazes are used. The piece measures 8 inches wide and 8 1/2 inches tall. I recommend hand washing.
