This vintage 1st edition reprint of the first-ever astrological best seller, "Heaven Knows What," by Scorpio, was published by Sun Dial Press, Inc. and printed at the Country Life Press in Garden City, New York (1937). The book features cherry red hardcovers with silver foil text and star accents; the title page reads "Scorpio's Horoscope Book" / "Heaven Knows What." The book is in very good to excellent condition, with light wear to the boards. All of the pages are taut in the binding and supple to the touch. There is some faint yellowing on the end pages. One of the sample horoscope blanks has been filled out with an ink pen and three of the cardboard charts have been removed from the sheet in the back of the book, but there are plenty of extra horoscope blanks and charts in the back of the book. A handwritten astrological reading and one of the horoscope charts is paper clipped to one of the pages. No dust jacket.

The essential tome for the introspective and the astro-curious alike.

First published in 1935, under the nom de plume, 'Scorpio,' "Heaven Knows What" was the first of two groundbreaking astrological masterworks by free will astrology pioneer, Grant Lewi. Described as the father of American astrology, Lewi is perhaps most famous for having predicted his own death -- down to the minute -- using his own astrological chart. Lewi believed that astrology could help people live more satisfying and fulfilling lives. In "Heaven Knows What," Lewi presents the first in-depth analysis of all 144 possible Sun-Moon combinations and the meaning of the various aspects, or angular relationships, of the planetary combinations. The book teaches the reader how to cast their own horoscope and chart the sun, moon, and planets, based on the date and time of their birth. An Amazon reader suggests, "this book is helpful not only in understanding yourself and your choices in life, but also in understanding and guiding your children. By getting a heads-up on where they're likely to shine, or in what areas they may face potential challenges, I believe you can help shape them to be their best."

"Heaven Knows What" could be the most superb description of Sun-Moon combinations and planetary aspects ever put to paper. Certainly, Lewi's work remains unparalleled. Amazon readers seem united in their praise:

…"one of the best cut-thru-the-case books on astrology you can read."

"He was a genius, and gives the best insight of any book I've read."

…"you'll come across so many phrases with the ring of truth, you'll know they couldn't have been just a lucky guess."

…."still relevant, [b]ecause when you get it right the first time, there's no need to update. Just as Einstein's laws of physics have not changed."

…"none has ever topped Grant Lewi in my estimation."

..."Such was the talent of astrologer Grant Lewi."

…"If you have an accurately cast horoscope this book is extremely scary in it's accuracy. The sun/moon profiles are absolutely spot on (not one person I have met is wrong and that is saying something.) Whether you simply want to know what sign your moon and planets are in, or how a Sun in Aquarius/Moon in Libra may be different than a Sun in Cancer/Moon in Aquarius, this book lays it all out in a very user-friendly way. If you are considering studying astrology, whether for fun or professionally, this is one of the all-time best books to begin with, especially if coupled with Astrology For The Millions. You can get an instant "take" on people, in a revealing and enlightened way, and you will find things about yourself to contemplate that will reveal you to you for years to come."

"It is not limitations that eat out the heart, but inaction, the knowledge of powers not used, the sense of having failed to develop to the utmost. The overcoming of fate is not the overcoming of limitations: that is impossible. It is the exercise of free will, the assertion of the full self, expanding to its utmost with the tools at hand, in the circumstances that are set. Astrology, through the interpretation of the horoscope, assists men to the achievement of their maximum by indicating to them the lines along which their will may be most progressively applied, the goals to be sought, and the individual means by which each one may arrive at the outermost boundaries of his world." ~Grant Lewi
