On the California coast, heading north from Los Angeles, before reaching Cambria, there is a small town called Harmony. Population 11. There used to be a thriving artist community there, and one of the largest attractions was (and is) Harmony Glass Works.

I picked out this piece of art glass from a bin of fragments of broken vases that had been shaped and polished. It has a slight curve to it, and on the reverse you can see where it was ground down, leaving a hollowed area of what was once the inside of the container.

It has been peyote stitched securely with Fireline beading thread using size 11 beads, and has a free form edge on the front, with lighter blue beads used in a few areas. It is suspended from a 19 1/2" necklace made of size 8 beads using a Japanese brading method called Kumihimo. The cones are Tribal Hill Silver and the toggle closure is nickel free polished pewter. The pendant is 3 1/2" from the top of the picot trimmed bail, the glass piece is 2 5/8" long.

This is very much a one of a kind piece!
