This necklace is made from a lovely collection of 9 pieces of genuine sea glass. Many of the colors presented are rare or uncommon.

The 18" oxidized copper chain has a hook and eye clasp. The 9 pieces of sea glass measure from 1" long to just under 3/4" long. I have worn this chain throughout the summer and can attest that the oxidized copper does not turn my neck green.

Sea Glass takes at least 40-60 years to form naturally tumbling in the ocean. Most glass found in the USA dates from the 1800's to the 1960's. It starts as wine bottles, dishware, art glass, windows, canning jars, ink bottles etc that end up in the ocean. The glass breaks up and becomes soft as the tide and waves move the pieces around the ocean floor. From a colonial era onion bottle to a 1930's coke bottle, there is a little bit of history infused in each piece.

Represented here are 5 distinct colors:
Soft Aqua Blue-peak production from the 1880's to 1930's
Citron or Fern Green-Peak Production from the 1840's to 1950's
Kelly Green-Peak Production from 1930's to today
Brown-Peak Production from 1870's to today
Soft Green-Peak Production from the 1890's to 1920's
Amber-peak production from 1850's to today
Soft Blue-peak production from 1880's to 1930's

I collect all my sea glass by hand and it is all in the shape that I find it on the beach. None of it is machine tumbled or shaped.

I try to represent my sea glass colors as accurately as possible, but please be aware that colors may vary on screen monitors depending on different calibrations.
