This is a Print-O-Matic desktop mimeograph machine. It really is a fascinating little machine; it does mimeograph printing on paper and card stock up to four by six inches, including index cards and post cards. I stacked some paper in it and turned the crank and it sent the pages through one by one with a charming clanging noise. I don't have any mimeograph ink, so I haven't been able to "properly" test it, but seeing as how it has variable pressure settings and is so simple in its construction, I can't see how it wouldn't work.

It comes with a pack of stencils and a stack of previously-mimeographed order cards from some kind of mechanic's shop. The stencils are fresh and useable, as far as I know, and mimeography is a moderately popular underground sort of hobby, so ink and further information are available, thanks to the internet.

Any questions are welcome.

What is a mimeograph?

A mimeograph is essentially an old school copy machine. Special paper is typed on with a typewriter or written on with a special stylus and becomes a stencil. The stencil is stretched across a something like an oversized rolling pin which is soaked in ink. Paper is fed through this ink soaked-roller, and the ink is forced through the stencil onto the paper. Ask anybody over fifty; they'll definitely be able to tell you about the weird purple ink and strange smell of mimeographed school papers. Mimeographs are still used by devoted fans for self-publishing zines and other literature. They require no electricity and are very simple to maintain and use.
