Each basket in our store is handmade from papyrus and sisal by a Nyaka grandmother. This basket is tan with green stripes. It also features two 13 inch handles. It is great for storing napkins in the kitchen or remote controls in the living room. It measures approximately 10.5 inches by 7 inches and is 5.5 inches tall.

The Nyaka AIDS Orphans Project bought this basket directly from it's creater at a fair Ugandan wage. All profits are used to fund Grandmother Training Programs that teach valuable skills such as parenting, nutrion, health, finance, and gradening. When you purchase a basket handmade by one of the 7,000 grandmothers whom we partner with, you become part of a growing circle of people who are helping impoverished Ugandan women rise out of poverty. These women care for, on average, 7 orphans at a time. Selling baskets, beads, and hats empowers them to support themselves and the children who rely on them for food, shelter, and loving care.
