This is a precious, small English silver candleholder with English marks - possibly Sheffield Silver .
It might have been used as a personal bedroom candleholder because of its size.
I LOVE to imagine who might have used it -- and where it was used !!

The marks, seen in the second photo include the maker's mark, which appears to be TAS - it is a bit rubbed on the first letter. The second mark is a crown; the third , a lion passant ; and the last mark is a M - which indicates the date of around 1900's -- I believe !! This is what I can gather from my book , "The Book of Old Silver" by S.B. Wyler.

The top rim, lip of the candleholder - the part that would catch the wax - is just slightly angled down - not "bent" per se - and barely perceptable - except that I want to note it to you . You can see it in the first and last photo. This would not be unusual for an old silver piece to have a slight imperfection like this because of its wear.
Also, the underneath copper that is under the silver layer , is showing through in the mid section of the candleholder. Again, not at all unusual for an old piece of silver to show these signs of wear !!
Otherwise, she is in Great Shape ! - and would certainly hold your pretty candle for the Holidays !

This lovely little candleholder has such a beautiful decorative edge around the bottom as well as around the top lip ! She is a stunning little example of English silver !

She measures approximately 4 inches tall and 4 inches wide.

Your beautiful little English Silver Candleholder will be well packed and insured before she leaves me !
