This Central Asian hat has been embroidered with tiny stitches to create the design. Many men traditionally have worn a skull cap at the back of their head with a turban wrapped around it. The cap's design could be traced to a village or family group.

The hat shows sign of wear and could use a cleaning, but otherwise, it's in good shape.

Westerners may scoff at the turban, but think about how many useful functions it serves:
-as a helmet if you fall off your horse
-as a blanket if you are somewhere and need a cover
-as a pillow
-as bandage if you get wounded
-as a sling if you need to carry something
-and on and on...

18" circumference at bottom (46 cm)
2.25" high band (6 cm)

Afghan Tribal Arts specializes in handcut, unpolished beads from Afghanistan and the region. Working with artisans directly in the Peshawar region, your purchase helps support small workshops who work in traditions established over centuries in the Silk Road. Afghanistan has great wealth in its natural resources, including an endless variety of semi-precious stones. Unpolished stones take in the oils of the skin with wear and develop a deep patina over time.
