This is part of a wonderful collection of high end hair accessories from the 1980s which I recently acquired. It includes items by such famous names as Alexandre de Paris, France Luxe, Kirks Folly, Medusa's Heirlooms, Richard Kerr and David Salvatore.

These hair accessories are right on trend with the current 1980s look and are very wearable with today’s hairstyles. They make wonderful gifts for that special person or perhaps to treat you.

The France Luxe Mini Wavy Comb is a great solution to help get your bangs out of your face or to pull back the sides of your hair. The wavy combs work into the hair providing a comfortable hold. Use as a mini French Twist and hold back hair in many different styles. A perfect choice to buy in pairs. This little classic will never go out of style.

France Luxe is a collection of handmade, exquisite hair ornaments that are traditionally handcrafted in a small French factory near Geneva, combing the designs with old world techniques and the finest materials. What makes France Luxe so special is the meticulous attention that goes into each piece. The one-week production process is derived from the more than one hundred year old tradition of hair ornament fabrication. Extensive time and resources are invested into the polishing process, and the extra time spent proves key in rendering the highest quality and sheen available in hair ornaments the world over. The hair ornaments use luxury tortoise material made from cellulose acetate sheets. The company does not use any animal products in the manufacture of the collection.

After languishing somewhat during the 1970s plastic jewellery again became fashionable in the 80s. This coincided with the vogue for collecting early bakelite and other vintage jewellery. The plastics used for jewellery and hair ornaments in the 1980s were not only smooth but textured as well. Stripes and polka dot patterns were popular, in addition to those imitating animal prints. All the colours of the rainbow were employed to create a dazzling effect.
