I started making mala prayer beads at the request of the local gallery where I display my work. The response has been so amazing that I thought that I would add them to my etsy store too. 108 red lava beads are hand knotted and joined by a beach tumbled kukui nut guru bead. To the ancient Hawaiians kukui nuts were used for light, navigation, medicine, divination, and many other purposes. The kukui represents spirit revealing itself, enlightenment. The strand is tied off with puka shells which have been gathered from the secluded beaches of our island. This piece has a beautiful antiqued look and can also be worn as an adornment.

Well used mala are known to break. Because of the inherant nature of the lava beads this may happen faster than you are used to. I will gladly re-string your mala at any time, just mail it to me along with return postage.

There are 108 8mm beads. The piece measures 21 inches to the bottom of the kukui and fits nicely in my useful pouch for larger items which can be purchased separately.

Custom orders are always welcome. Made with aloha on the island of Molokai.

My shipping preference is USPS Priority. I will gladly ship worldwide for actual shipping cost. Please convo me with your zip code for a quote.
