✦ ✧ ✦ ✧ ✦ ✧ ✦ The Original Gypsy Tudung ✧ ✦ ✧ ✦ ✧ ✦ ✧ ✦ ✧ ✦

The Gypsy Tudung is so versatile in design, inspired by the dress of the Middle East meets nomad culture. With an oversized deep cowl hood that frames the face and neckline with total grace, balancing the proportions of any body type. An open back with long 'tails' can be worn loose, belted or tied at the back. Pair with bikini top or a tube top, layer over long sleeves or a simple dress, jazz it up with a belt ~ or take the risk and wear it bare ★

THE FABRIC~
The fabric I am using for these tunics is an organic bamboo/hemp blended jersey. It has to be the most delicious fabric I have ever encountered. The bamboo brings the softness, drape and effortless movement, while the hemp contributes a rustic feel while giving the fabric strength and substance. Brushes against your skin like the sweetest kiss and is always slightly cool to the touch.

HAND SEWN COUTURE ~
The hood seam and finished edges are skillfully hand-sewn for that special touch of gypsy couture with a contrasting yet complimentary colored thread. I use high quality threads and am currently working with a silk-finished cotton thread made in either Spain or Greece. ★★★ A new design feature for this next Gypsy Tudung production season is a stylized artisan seam constructing the hood. Similar to a french seam, it is streamline, adds a heightened aesthetic, while being extremely durable to ensure a lifetime hold. For this reason, I call it the “Warrior Spine”. A unique signature to celebrate the individuality, process and authenticity of your wearable art.

HAND DYED LOVE ~~
To bring variation to this luscious fabric, I am hand-dying it here in my studio in small batches. The dye I use is a low-impact cold water fiber reactive dye. The way the bamboo hemp fabric takes the dye is truly stunning~ The color holds to the hemp fibers in a slightly greater saturation than to the bamboo fibers ~ creating a multidimensional color with a chameleon effect in different lighting. As it goes with hand-dyed fabrics, the color may vary ever so slightly with each dye bath. Rest assured that every batch of fabric is crafted to have gorgeous color!
