Elm wood is perfect for making salad bowls. It is a very hard, strong wood with interwoven grain that makes it extremely durable. Ask anyone who has split Elm for firewood and they will tell you how difficult it is because of the tough interlocking grain.
Elm is also a very beautiful wood and one of my personal favorites to work with.
This salad bowl is made from American Elm. It has a great shape that makes it perfect for tossing and serving. It is a heavy duty, working bowl with good looks to boot!
The finish is food safe Commercial Salad Bowl Finish, which gives excellent protection with a nice low gloss shine. Maintainance is easy, just re-apply finish as needed or touch -up with mineral oil.
(A bowl care sheet is included.) Will serve 8-10 people.
Hand turned from a reclaimed Minnesota Elm log.

Diameter: 11 1/4 inches
Height: 3 1/4 inches
