Why use a new sewing machine when you could use this perfectly functional antique machine? Imagine the history that has passed by this item! The last patent date on this Wheeler & Wilson D-9 sewing machine is 1892. The owner of this machine had it in her family for many years (it had originally belonged to her grandmother), and during that time the machine was converted from treadle to electric by adding a motor, light bulb, pedal, and rubber belt. It has an old Universal 100-115 volt motor (probably from the 1930s) that works great. The wiring is good and the machine is responsive to changes in pressure on the pedal. The light bulb even works! On top of converting the machine to electric, a carrying case was also added to the machine to make it portable (it was originally in a cabinet). The machine can be removed from the base and put back in a cabinet if desired. It could also be converted back to treadle, although there would be a couple of screwholes in the back of the machine where the motor and light bulb are attached.

Numerous additional accessories will be included with this machine. There appear to be additional feet, some extra needles, etc. We don't have a significant knowledge of sewing machine parts, but the extras are pictured as props in another listing's photos (see the Wheeler & Wilson sewing box in our shop).
