There is simply no other way to say it. Olive wood is the most beautiful wood in the world. OK, so that's my not so humble opinion, but take a look at the bowls in this collection, and I'm sure you'll agree.

The sinuous, intricately patterned "rings" look like the finest marble imaginable. They are a constant joy to admire. And if that weren't enough, they even smell wonderful, like fresh green olives.

Like all my freshly turned (green) bowls and vases I turn the olive bowls to 1/4 of an inch thickness or less to prevent any cracking.

I finish all of my work with sanding sealer and three coats of wax to protect the wood, but the oil still present in this wood continues to seep out. Wiping them with a soft cloth gives them a luster all their own.

Few pieces of olive wood are large enough to produce bowls with no voids or gaps. Fortunately, I believe they add to my bowls' allure.

This large 7 3/4 inch diameter by 3 1/2 inch deep bowl is no exception.

The bowl is numbered 1003 and is signed.
