This intriguing old scrapbook was probably originally meant for a photo album.

Its cover boards have brown and cream textured matte silk fabric, metal grommets and a green silk cord. The front cover (opens with spine on right) has a ukiyo-e style printed scene of two men in a small workhouse with mountains in the background. Two men carry a litter transport on the left. Random crackle design possibly shibori technique, or batik.

The covers are 14 3/4" x 10 3/4". Inside has about 24 double-sided leaves plus ends filled with clippings of Boston buildings and scenes. Mostly black and white, a few in color. Clippings seem to date from the 40s to 60s.

The pasted "Boston" newspaper word on the cover can probably be gently removed if you want to buy this for the covers and insert a bunch of new black blank pages. You may need to glue new endpapers on the insides over the clippings pasted there.
