VintiqueDesigns is pleased to offer our design of a mid-1800's corded petticoat, to fit 18" dolls such as American Girl.
Our research has revealed that many women of that time period did not wear cage or crinoline petticoats all the time. The corded petticoat was used for doing chores, for warmth, and for practical matters such as cooking over a campfire. The corded petticoat was less expensive to make and offered a more flexible and more reasonable alternative to the expensive popular crinoline, while adding volume and support under the sweeping skirts of the period.
We use a White cotton Ticking fabric for the base. It has a smooth, tight weave, and substantial body to support the trims. Our cotton petticoat offers two rows of white cording inside the grow tucks, 2 rows of vintage eyelet lace in different widths, two rows of crisp white vintage lace, and a row of beading laced with a tiny piece of Silk ribbon in a variety of colors. The waistband closes with a buttonhole and button, or metal snaps, as you desire!
Because many people have asked if our Petticoat will fit beneath the shorter AG dresses, we've added photos to demonstrate - photo two is familiar 1850's dresses WITHOUT a petticoat, one AG made; one from the Keeper's DollyDuds pattern. Photo three shows the same dresses WITH our petticoat beneath. Isn't it an amazing difference??
PLEASE specify Rose trim or ribbon trim with your order as well as snaps or button/buttonhole closure! Because the waistband is fitted, a waist measurement for you doll would be great!
VintiqueDesigns uses pre-laundered fabrics, and professionally finishes all seams on a serger. Because this is a custom order, the ribbon color and trims may vary from those pictured, but I assure you, you will be delighted!
This listing is for the waist petticoat only. Our dolls, dresses, boots, and camisole tops are for display.
