This lovely, semi-circular pocket lighter from the 1940s features a subtle, chromium plated raised hobnail pattern and an unused monogram shield. Known for their elegant, and sometimes opulent, lighters and fashion accessories, this fully automatic pocket lighter was manufactured by the Evans Case Company of Attleborough, MA. In the 1930s, Evans was sued by Ronson Art Metal Works (AMW) for infringement of their patented "single-action" lighter design. In 1939, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in favor of AMW. The two companies reached a restitution agreement and Evans lighters produced post-settlement during the 1940s displayed the AMW patent information -- until it expired in 1952. This patent information appears on the fuel screw of this lighter (see photo #4).

This Evans works well and will be shipped with a flint, without fluid. (Please do not store this lighter with the flint though, as it will deteriorate and become impacted over time.) I've fully disassembled and cleaned its firing mechanism, unblocked the flint chamber, installed a new NOS Ronson wick, repacked the fuel chamber, and restored this lighter to full working order. I've also cleaned all interior/exterior elements of the lighter body to remove grim from age and use. I've provided high quality photos to offer the best preview of this lighter. Please take a look and feel free to ask any questions.
