A strange 1960's modernist set of Bennington Pottery designed by founder David Gil. Inscribed onto the tops are "Mr Salt" and Mrs Pepper". Nice warm gray stoneware with satin finish glazes. The eyes have holes for the salt and pepper to come out, and each one has a natural cork stopper on the head. signed on base of salt dispenser "Bennignton Potters, Vt," some slight discoloration of the stone wear on the backs of of the heads, otherwise in mint condition.

These are quite large for salt and pepper, but I think they also work as sculptures. I love the almost primitive modernist stylization of the disk like heads, truly unique, and whimsical.
