Vintage fraternal pin - button with a tree stump, axe, chisel, mallet, and the letters WOW in red enamel. This piece has a screwpost, and a round flat backing, designed to be worn through a tiny hole in the shirt. About about a half inch / 13 mm tall.

The Woodsmen of the World Fraternity derived from an organization founded in 1883, by Joseph Cullen Root, in Omaha Nebraska. One of the benefits of membership included passing a hat to raise funds for the bereaved family of members who had passed. EVentually, Root founded an insurance company to help sustain this practice. The organization divided in 1899, and became Woodsmen of the World. This particular logo looks most like one used in 1907. Pin is signed on the screwback: an overlapping, fancy looking I and R, with a small c on the left and a small o on the right.
