The Waterman Crusader is one of their mid-range pens from the 1940s. Although the company was beginning to spring its seams financially in that decade, there was nothing wrong with the pens they were making, and this is a splendid example of their work. For more information on the model, see http://wp.me/P20IDI-ST

The pen had been refurbished, with a fresh latex sac and a thorough cleaning of the feed. The point is 14k gold, producing a fine line, and being best thought of as a firm semi-flexible type; it is soft and springy in the manner of the best modern fountain pens, but is limited as to how much of a flex it will allow. On the writing sample image, the "100" mark is 1mm across to indicate the scale.

The cap is made of aluminum and must be treated somewhat gently to avoid scuffs and scrapes; this one has survived more than half a century in the world in perfect shape. The body, while showing a little more sign of having passed through history, but it is still very smooth. I have highlighted the "Made in Canada" impression; functionally, this is neither here nor there, for while there were some differences in models between Canadian and US manufacture, there was no observable difference in quality.

A note on shipping; I will not simply thrust a pen into a padded envelope and hope for the best. This item, humble as it is, will receive the same treatment as a rarity, sent out in a box with layered defenses (see http://wp.me/P20IDI-17z section one for a full description of how I wrap things). If the shipping seems high, look to Canada Post's demands. However, shipping more than one pen costs no more; if you buy more than one, one shipping payment covers all, so either wait for an invoice or expect a refund if you pay immediately.
