Pub Cabinet Chalkboard With Extras

This started out as a vintage pub-style dart board cabinet. We sandblasted it down to the raw wood, and pickled the doors to bring out the grays and the honey tones. We then hand-rubbed a few coats of lemon oil into the doors.

Inside, we added a wire cache to store the vintage hunk of sheepskin (included) and a few sticks of chalk (included). There is also a groove right under the board to hold a stick of chalk. The other side has cuphooks for keys. As you can imagine, there are lots of little holes in the wood, so you can just use pushpins or tacks to attach little notes and photos right to the interior of the doors, as we did. The doors close and stay closed, with magnetic catches.

The front knobs are vintage, and are ceramic and brass. The brass is pitted and tarnished.

We will include a hunk of vintage sheepskin to erase with, and a few of sticks of chalk to get you started. Your board has already been "seasoned" by us - we write on and erase several times to get the board smooth and ready and looking good and used, the way we like it.

The board itself is 16" x 14 1/2", and the whole piece, with doors closed, 22" x 16 1/2", and with doors open the width is 33".

We have added a wire strung between two metal loops to the back for hanging. Please consider putting two hangers on the wall to hang this from - the balance of the piece changes depending on whether the doors are open or closed, and having two picture hanger hooks on the wall is the best way to secure this.
